Cooper Contractors LLC has provided independent and major energy operators with high-performance drilling, well servicing, and offshore logistics. Built on a foundation of engineering rigor and field-tested execution, we operate where others pause.
Cooper Contractors LLC began operations in 2016 with a single land-based drilling rig in the Permian Basin. The company was founded on a simple, unfashionable principle: deliver what you promise, test your safety equipment before every shift, and never walk past a problem.
To deliver measurable drilling efficiency without compromising crew safety or environmental integrity.
Deep experience. Surface safety. Subsurface success. Every well, everywhere we operate.

Cooper Contractors began operations with a single refurbished land rig in West Texas, completing the first well three days ahead of schedule with zero safety incidents.
The transition from land to offshore marked a pivotal expansion for Cooper Contractors. The company secured its first offshore platform drilling contract in the Gulf of Mexico, requiring a complete upgrade in equipment, certifications, and personnel training.
Recognizing that drilling was only one phase of the well lifecycle, Cooper Contractors launched its subsea well intervention division in 2015. The company invested in riserless light well intervention (RLWI) systems, hydraulic workover units, and coiled tubing spreads.
Cooper Contractors achieved 2 million consecutive man-hours without a lost-time incident (LTI) — a milestone that placed the company in the top tier of safety performance among independent drilling contractors. This achievement was not the result of luck or favorable conditions. It was built on daily safety briefings, monthly BOP drills, quarterly well control simulations, and a stop-work authority policy that empowers every crew member to halt operations without fear of retaliation.
Simultaneously, the company expanded its fleet to 12 active drilling and workover units, including platform rigs, jack-up units, hydraulic workover spreads, and coiled tubing packages. Client retention reached 94%, and operational uptime averaged 98.6% across the fleet. This milestone cemented Cooper Contractors’ position as a midsize industry leader, large enough to handle complex offshore programs, yet responsive enough to treat every client as a partner, not a ticket number.
