Well Intervention & Workover

Well Intervention & Workover – Restore Production Without Killing the Well

Hydraulic workover, snubbing, coiled tubing, and wireline for live-well operations up to 15k psi.

Production decline doesn’t have to mean pulling the completion, killing the reservoir, or losing months of uptime. Cooper Contractors performs live-well intervention and workover services that restore or enhance production without the damage caused by kill fluids. Our hydraulic workover units (HWO), snubbing stacks, and coiled tubing spreads are rated for high-pressure, sour-service, and deepwater environments.

The traditional approach to workover often involves killing the well with heavy fluid, which can permanently damage formation permeability, delay cleanup, and reduce ultimate recovery. Cooper Contractors takes a different path. We operate under live-well conditions, maintaining well control with mechanical barriers and BOP stacks while performing downhole operations through tubing. This preserves your reservoir’s natural flow potential and eliminates the cost and environmental impact of kill fluid disposal.

Key Capabilities

We also perform chemical stimulation, scale squeeze, acidizing, and asphaltene remediation, using custom chemical blends injected through coiled tubing or capillary strings.

Our intervention crews are trained in snubbing (pushing pipe into a live well under pressure), coiled tubing milling and cleanout, wireline logging and perforating, and through-tubing fishing. We also perform chemical stimulation — scale squeeze, acidizing, and asphaltene remediation — using custom chemical blends injected through coiled tubing or capillary strings.

Why Choose Cooper for Well Intervention:

  • Average intervention time: 40% below industry average
  • Live-well operations = no kill fluid damage to reservoir
  • 24/7 intervention support hotline

Questions? You’re covered

Here are some frequently asked questions.

01. What is the advantage of live-well intervention versus killing the well?

Killing a well with heavy fluid can damage formation permeability, delay cleanup for weeks, and permanently reduce production. Live-well intervention preserves reservoir pressure, eliminates kill fluid costs and disposal, and restores production within hours instead of days. Cooper Contractors performs live-well work as the default method unless well conditions require a kill.

Our HWO units and snubbing stacks are rated for working pressures up to 15,000 psi with appropriate BOP configuration. We have successfully performed interventions on wells with surface pressures exceeding 10,000 psi. Each job receives a pressure-specific engineering review before mobilization.

Standard mobilization for hydraulic workover or coiled tubing is 7–10 days from contract signature. Emergency interventions (sudden production loss, valve failure, or tubing leak) can mobilize within 48–72 hours depending on equipment availability and location.
